Executive Director

Role summary

As the Executive Director working under the authority of the JBACE members, you will be responsible for the operational aspect of the JBACE and the management of the Secretariat which includes the supervision of 2 employees. You will be responsible for maintaining an open and effective communication between JBACE members, the Secretariat as well as external parties in order to carry out the mandate and implement the strategic plan. You will be playing an important role in developing the 2018-2023 strategic plan as well as implementing new working tools in collaboration with members.

Key accountabilities

  • Develop and maintain good relationship with governments, communities and partners in order to carry out and promote the JBACE mandate as well as keeping abreast of pertinent information.
  • Act as a liaison between the members and offer assistance to the Presidency in order to contribute to effective decision-making and to follow-up on state of progress on different files.
  • Provide analysis and strategic advice to JBACE members concerning environmental, social or economic trends and questions related to Chapter 22 of the JBNQA and the territory covered.
  • Provide regular financial reports to JBACE, manage information adequately and supervise the work of the analyst and secretarial agent.
  • Lead projects, studies and analysis and coordinate the writing of various documents such as annual reports, letters and briefs.

Qualifications required

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as Business Administration, Management or Public Administration.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in management, human resources or project management.
  • Governmental policies and social or environmental related experience
  • Bilingualism: verbal and written communication in French and English (Cree is an asset).
  • Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the territory and its inhabitants.

Other

  • Availability for occasional travelling (a few meetings or conferences per year).
  • Permanent Full-time position (35 hours per week)
  • Work location: Montreal (downtown)
